Custom Raked Frame
The Brief
This Geelong South homeowner had recently completed a contemporary rear extension and needed a privacy and screening solution for the exposed gable end. The challenge was the raked roofline – a non-standard angle that required a custom-fabricated frame to house the vertical louvres cleanly within the architectural form.
The Details
The Sunbreaker Vertical Louvres were chosen for their bold visual presence and ability to be custom framed to suit non-standard openings. Installed in Anthracite Grey to match the home’s dark colorbond roofing and charcoal fascia, the louvres fill the raked gable opening with a striking screen that provides privacy from neighbouring properties while allowing airflow through the space.
The timber cladding and warm interior lighting of the extension contrast beautifully against the dark louvre screen, giving the rear of the home a dramatic, architecturally resolved finish. The combination of vertical blade profile and angular frame creates a feature element that goes well beyond a standard screening product.
Installation
The installation required working at height on the roofline of the rear extension to fit the custom raked frame and secure the vertical louvre blades within it. The frame was carefully measured and fabricated to follow the exact pitch of the gable, ensuring tight tolerances and a clean finish from every angle. Installation was completed at end of day, with the finished result photographed at dusk showcasing the louvres against the evening sky.
