The Brief
This Pakenham homeowner wanted to transform their rear alfresco into a year-round outdoor entertaining space. The brief was straightforward – a freestanding louvre roof pergola over the existing concrete patio that would provide full rain protection when needed, while still allowing the space to be opened up to the sky on fine days.
The Details
The SB400 Pergola System was the ideal solution for this generous backyard alfresco. Installed as a freestanding structure with a Charcoal Grey frame and Pearl White louvre blades, the pergola sits beautifully against the grey brick facade of the home without overpowering it.
The contrast between the dark frame and light blade colour gives the structure a clean, contemporary look from both inside and out. When the blades are closed, the underside presents a crisp, ordered ceiling that makes the space feel like a true outdoor room. When open, the garden, lawn, and sky remain fully visible – giving the homeowners complete control over their environment.
The generous size of the structure covers the full dining and entertaining area, with room to seat a crowd comfortably underneath.
Installation
The SB400 was installed as a freestanding pergola, footed directly into the concrete slab. The charcoal posts and beams were assembled and levelled before the louvre blade system was fitted across the full span of the roof. The motorised blade operation was wired and tested, with the blades running smoothly from fully open to fully closed. The clean sightlines from every angle confirm the care taken during installation to ensure a level, square, and polished result.
